Oklahoma FreeWheel – Day 4 Cheyenne to Thomas.

Lots of these today!
Today’s ride in a word…hilly. And that’s about it in terms of riding. The first hour or so was really nice and really fast, but after that, we got into a bunch of long rollers that wore at you. After a while, I decided to clock the distance on what seemed like an “average” one. It was just a bit over ¾ of a mile long. I’m sure a bunch of riders today ended up sagging in again. If you like big, open country, this part of Oklahoma is for you. I’m guessing there is still a lot of cattle ranching out here, but for some reason I didn’t see very many cattle.

Last night I had what had to be the meal of the trip at the Methodist Church. We were their inaugural event in their new building, and the ladies put on a great spread. Maybe it’s a good thing all the meals aren’t that good!

After supper last night was a good chance to wander the camp and visit with some of the folks I’ve met. Stacy was just pulling out his “travel guitar”, and sang Good Morning America, How Are You for us. He’s just a good good old guy.

Good Morning, America, How are you?
There was also a wedding in camp last night. The bride and groom did a couple of laps around the campground on a tandem dragging cans behind it. I simply can’t imagine getting married on FreeWheel.

The wedding couple? Let's hope not!
I made it in today just ahead of a storm. You can sure see those things coming a long ways off out here! I got the tent up and headed off to do laundry while it passed through, but my laundry got finished first. With nothing else to do, I ended up sitting in the school gym for a couple of hours until it finally quit.

Rain on the way
The evening was spent chatting with Drew, Steve, and Roger, a pleasant end to a decent day.
Here’s a link to the GPS track.
God Bless….
