Misc. Monday
Wow! Where did the weekend go? I’m not sure, but it went way too fast and the two bike rides we had planned both fell through. One to rain, and the 2nd to just general junk.
I guess the talk of the cycling world at this point is the Tour de France. If you’ve been following the first three stages, you know that the British sprinter Mark Cavendish riding for Team Columbia has won the two road stages in a sprint finish. He’s an impressive sprinter who won the stage of the Tour of Missouri that finished in Springfield last year. I was at the finish line, and it was an absolute classic sprint finish to the end. His teammates basically drug him to the front of the pack and allowed him to slingshot around the competition. On the podium, he’s just a baby-faced kid with tree trunks for legs! Congratulations to him!

On the way home from work today, I saw a guy on a single speed blatently run a stop light at National and Cherry. The guy comes up on the left hand side of several cars waiting at the light, crosses in front of the lead car to slip between traffic on National to the center lane, then crossed the oncoming traffic to get across and continue west on Cherry. Come on! I don’t consider myself a commuting activist or anything like that, but this guy gives us a bad name. Not only was he totally illegal, but unsafe and stupid as well. If you’re going to ride a bike in traffic, please obey the law!
I’ve kind of got a long day of riding on tap for tomorrow, so I tried to take it easy today. We’ll see if I was successful!
God bless….
