Cycle Ninja
Hey Dude! Yea, you. The guy riding the mountain bike in the flourescent yellow vest. The one I meet a couple of times a week at 5:45 AM riding south on Eastgate with no lights or helmet.
Man, you’re just not safe. Nobody can see you, even if you do have that yellow vest on. It’s dark out there, and the headlights from oncoming traffic on the highway running parallel to the street play tricks on your eyes. When I met you this morning, I had no clue you were coming until we were ten feet apart. You scare me, so please do me a favor and get some lights. You can get some decent ones at the local bike stores, or heck, even Wal-Mart sells the ones below for $15. If you can’t afford that, let me know and I’ll spot you the cash.
God bless….

Was he also riding the wrong way or was it a crossing thing? I rarely see
predawn ninja other than an occasional jogger. Nowadays even a lot of runners carry a “be seen” light. A low end flashing headlight/taillight would have been cheaper than that vest.

The sad thing is that this guy was coming straight toward me in the other lane….and had been doing so for at least a couple of hundred yards. I didn’t see him until we were passing side-by-side.

Its bad enough he puts himself in danger but to endanger others…..not even close to cool.
