Pasty Whites
Quick! Cover your eyes! It’s not a pretty sight!
That was me this morning as Pam and I headed out to run. You see, it was 50 degrees out there, and my pasty white legs were venturing outdoors for the first time this year in shorts. Luckily, it was dark, and with the exception of the few cars that passed us, nobody was offended! We ran 4.2 delightful miles before returning home to change for the ride to work.
It didn’t take long to realize that the stout headwinds that I suffered through on the way home last night were still there this morning…except they were now in my favor. They were also in the right direction for me to smell the sweet aroma of donuts baking at St. George’s this morning!
Talk about making an already empty stomach growl louder!
It’s funny how my mind works when I’m riding to work. Sometimes I’m just in the zone and not a lot goes on up there (actually most of the time), but this morning the cobwebs were cleared for some reason. One of the random thoughts that passed through is that today marked my 14th commute in a row by bike. Now, I know that’s not very long, and I’ve had longer stretches at a time before, but given the crappy weather we’ve had this year, I considered it pretty impressive for a change!
As I pulled into work, I found myself wishing that I had further to go. It was an absolutely delightful morning, and I felt good on the bike. Those are the days I live for! Hope you’re having as great a day as well.
God bless…
