Note to self!

You’re due a rest day!  Unfortunately, you’ve signed up to run the St. Patty’s Day 5k w/ Pam tomorrow so it will have to be Sunday.  It’s probably a good thing that the weather is supposed to be kind of cruddy this weekend!

Here’s a summary of my last two weeks:

  • Today – Weights / 18 mile commute
  • Thursday – 4.3 mile run / 18 mile commute
  • Wednesday – Weights / 20 mile commute
  • Tuesday – 4.2 mile run / 18 mile commute
  • Monday – Weights / 18 mile commute + 7 mile leisurly ride
  • Sunday – 24 mile tandem ride
  • Saturday – 10.5 mile run & walk
  • Friday – Weights / 18 mile commute
  • Thursday – 3.3 mile run / 18 mile commute
  • Wednesday – Weights / 15 mile commute
  • Tuesday – 3.3 mile run / 18 mile commute
  • Monday – Weights / 18 mile commute
  • Sunday – my last rest day…..

Random Thoughts:

It was nice to get the chance to ride most of the way home with Jim the other day.

I’ve decided that the two blocks of Eastgate that run along Sam’s club and the Anthem call center are the two most dangerous blocks on my commute.  I’m not sure why there are so many distracted drivers there.  I was really tempted to confront the lady who was lost and confused last night and cut me off before she turned into a parking lot to get her bearings.  In hindsight, I probably made the right decision to move on and forget it.

We’ve got a cycling vacation booked!  We’re taking the tandem to North Carolina’s Outer Banks in early May for a 5 day credit card tour.  We think it should be a blast!

I hope there is interest for the cycling club that Pam and I are attempting to start at church.  For details, see the South Haven Cycling  page linked at the upper right of this page.  Advertising starts this weekend.

Andy, over at Carbon Trace,  posted a well written piece about cycling in Springfield.  He and I are very different types of cyclists, but he makes a lot of reasonable points.

God bless…
