Head-sweats

Notice anything about the way I’m dressed in all these pictures?  I mean, aside from the fact that I’m wearing cycling clothes…..

Yep, I’ve got a goofy looking do-rag on my head.  It’s not the best look, but it’s a habit I got into several years ago in an effort to keep the sweat out of my eyes.  I’m a prolific sweater, and without the head-sweat, I’m constantly trying to keep my eyes from burning and stinging.

I’ve tried a few times to learn to ride without the do-rag, but always find myself going back to it very quickly.

Oh well, I guess if I’m willing to wear those skin tight cycling shorts and flashy jerseys, I shouldn’t be self-conscious about what I’ve got under my helmet!

God bless…

I kinda think it completes your look. Don’t change a thing!

I have the same problem and have tried several head band styles, (but never the cool-looking do-rag you’re sporting! :) ).

If you want to try something different, I swear by the Halo II (http://store.haloheadband.com/HALO_II_pullover_s/9.htm). It’s light and comfortable, drys quick, and does a pretty good job of channeling sweat away from the eyes.

I tried out the Sweat Gutr (http://www.sweatgutr.com/home.html) this summer and it’s pretty slick, but results weren’t as good as the Halo.

  3. I don’t know when I last rode without something under my helmet, usually a cycling cap though. Unrelated: Anyone ever tell you you look vaguely like George Hincapie? Maybe it is just that first photo, but, there it is.

I was always looking for something better to keep my eyes sweat-free. The best I’ve found so far is a Halo Headband. I think my next purchase will be the halo skullcap.

The fun thing I noticed was that I think I have gray/red socks just like Mike!! Now, if only I could keep up with him….

Mine is different from yours. Mine is red. They also work well in the cold if you pull it down over your ears.

I second the Halo headband comment. I’ve tried a headsweats do rag, but I find it too warm to have the whole top of my head covered.
