Is the hammer about to fall?

This certainly has not been a typical January.  You only have to look at this morning to understand why.  Pam and I ran in shorts, then I rode to work with just a light, single layer.   And sweated.

As evidence of how nice this weather is, take a look at the entrance to our locker room in the picture above.  Three bikes!  We’re about to have a parking problem!

God bless….

    See what you started?

Even if it does get cold again, we’ve already got Dec and now Jan completed. We’ll see what Mr. Groundhog says on Thursday.

A year ago next week, we had record snowfall at DFW.

    Tracy,
Hey there- sorry to pester you posted this in your contact form, but if you’re like me, sometimes those contact messages languish, so I’ll post it as a comment too- I’m reaching out to everyone I “know” in Springfield.
As you may have seen on my blog, there’s a big fight going on about bicycle and pedestrian project defunding in the House version of the Transportation bill, which got brought up suddenly this week.
Transportation Enhancements and Safe Routes to school are the specific programs, but while biking and walking make up something like 12% of trips nationwide, pedestrian and bicycle facilities get 1.6% of federal funding. TE is a major source of rail-trail funding, and Safe routes to school funds crosswalks, sidewalks near schools etc. The current bill would eliminate these two major sources of dedicated bike-ped funding.
There’s an amendment, sponsored by Tom Petri (R-WI), which would combine and reform the two programs, combining them into one, and preserving their funding. However it needs more Republican supporters. More info on it here:

Billy Long, who is the Representative from Springfield is on the Transportation committee- Would you consider calling his office for me and ask him to support the amendment? Needs to be done today or tomorrow because the bill is coming up tomorrow. I can call, but they won’t listen to me, since I don’t live there anymore.

    Thanks,

That is a good selection of wheels. It looks much better than the gas-guzzler of the previous post!
