I’m slipping!

I discovered this week that the seat post on my Surly had slipped down a little bit.  Not much, maybe a couple of millimeters at the most.  I’m not sure why, or how long it had been that way, but after riding my road bike last weekend, then getting on the Surly, it was very obvious there was a difference.  I guess it’s kind of like the old adage about slowly heating a pot of water with a frog in it and that frog never knowing it was getting cooked!

Anyway, it was a quick and easy fix that I caught before it caused my knees to start bothering me.  You can see in the fuzzy picture above that I didn’t raise it very much at all, but take a cue from me and go check your seat bolts!

God bless..

My saddle seems to move aft a smidge occasionally.

  2. I check the height of my saddle before every ride…..I have a small white line on the seat tube which is easy to see & check.
I think that I must be obsessive about checking the tightness of everything with a torque wrench……

A similar thing happened to me this week. Except mine was caused by an overly cautious bike mechanic.

…….I find that a few millimetres can make all the difference.
