Light Fail
I’m a huge fan of my NiteRider MiNewt Pro 750 headlamp. At least I was until this week when the battery failed me.
It’s just out of warranty, and according to the specs, has only lasted a fraction of it’s projected life. That stinks.
I went ahead and ordered a replacement, but was pretty chagrined to see that a replacement battery and shipping cost me nearly 75% of the price of the original system.
For now, I’m commuting every morning with a light that doesn’t even come close to comparing with the NightRider, but at least it didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
I suppose when I get to start using the good light again I’ll probably forget my frustration and appreciate how much better it is than the one I’m using this week, but for now I’m irritated!
God bless…

Alternately, go to eBay and search “900 lumen p7″ in the cycling category. Be prepared to spend $50. About the same as if you’d searched “1200 lumen p7.” Mine is coming up on its second birthday and is going strong, though the Velcro has weakened a bit.

When I took my LCI I had to keep my light off when we did the visibility thing because it was brighter than the lights of the Honda minivan.
And it gets three hours on high setting.

You’re right to be bent about replacement battery cost – it’s hard to not feel like I’m being taken advantage of when the battery costs that much and never lasts as long as they say they’re supposed to.
