I knew it
Let’s face it. Wind and tandems aren’t a match made in heaven.
Even though I was enjoying the trip out to Fair Grove Saturday, behind my smile was the thought that the ride back wasn’t going to be nearly as much fun. It wasn’t.
In that situation, we can only do what we’re going to do. No amount of additional effort will result in additional speed.
Split 1 was the ride out there. Pretty easy/peasy, although heading east was a little effort because of the slight cross wind.
Split 2 was the ride home. That was a grind. Notice it took us 8 minutes longer to ride 2.5 miles less. As I said, we can only do what we can do.
But…in spite of all my complaining about the wind today, that ride out to Fair Grove and back is one of our favorites. Good roads, challenging hills, but also lots of swooping down-hills that are just made for a tandem.
Oh…and the funny thing we noticed today. I should have taken a picture, but I didn’t. They’ve installed a porta-potty at Danforth Cemetery for Memorial Day. Go figure.
