One Last CRMBT Preparation Post
When I rode out in Colorado last year, I got extremely lucky with the weather. It was cool and even cold a few times, but it never got wet. Had it rained, I would have been in pretty pitiful shape. I had my old blue GoreTex jacket, but that thing will only repel water for a couple of minutes. I vowed to myself that I would be better prepared this year, but frankly, time almost got away from me!
Last week, I finally got around to ordering a Showers Pass Storm Jacket. I already own a Showers Pass Touring Jacket and really like it for commuting, but it’s pretty bulky and more suited to carrying in my pannier as opposed to something that is packable and easy to just throw in my pocket if I’m heading out for a ride when it looks like rain. I’m hoping the Storm Jacket can play double duty as both a rain jacket and an everyday jacket that is somewhere between my wind vest and that blue GoreTex coat in terms of warmth.
Upon initial inspection, I think it has the same quality construction as the Touring Jacket, but will obviously not be very breathable. It’s the only jacket I’m planning to take to Colorado, so we’ll see how usable it is as a cool weather jacket.
