Morning glory

Left the house this morning to this glorious sight as I opened the garage door and readied my bike for the ride to work. I didn’t notice it at the time, but can you see the little sliver of the moon in the eastern sky? It’s too soon to know, but based on the doom and gloom local weather forecast we heard last night, the next monsoon is supposed to begin Saturday and last through Tuesday. If it’s correct, I’m not sure how condusive to bike commuting it will be early next week.
Until then, however, I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts!
Oh…wouldn’t you know it. I had planned to move the nice Tubus rack from my road bike over to the new commuter when it gets here, but according to Wayne at the Touring Store that will be a problem. The thing is, I like that rack. It’s pretty minimalist in design, and light as a feather. F0rtunately, Tubus makes a cousin to it that is just a few onces heavier and will work on the Surly. I ordered it, but only after checking out what was available to me locally. I didn’t like the looks of the reasonably priced options at all, and by the time I got to the more expensive ones that I thought would suffice, the price was comparable to the Tubus. I ordered it late yesterday, and it will be here about the same time as the bike. If by some stroke of luck I can make the existing rack work, Wayne has a gracious return policy. If not, I’ll probably put the old one on e-Bay.
Details, details, details….
God bless….
