Forlorn

This sad and forlorn bicycle has been locked to a pole near MSU for the past several days.  I noticed it last Thursday, and at this point, it appears to be completely abandoned, although the Cannondale Trunk bag looked to be in decent shape.  It’s locked to a pole in the corner of the yard of a pretty nice house, so I’ll bet the homeowner would like to get rid of it.  With that big ole’ U-lock, however, it’s gonna take a hacksaw.

I presume a car was involved…..

Take it easy out there.  Stuff can happen!

God bless…

Why do you presume that? If it is truly abandoned, I’d LOVE that bag. I think, however, it will evolve without action from either of us. And KEEP the rest of us informed on that evolution…

That rear wheel looks like a lot like my own rear wheel when it encountered a RR track at a bad angle. Had a car been involved, would the owner have troubled to lock the remnants to a pole? Mostly, cycling IS fun and safe. From a goofball…

Looks like someone was hit, and a kind bystander secured the bike until the cyclist is able to return.

  4. A sad sight indeed! Someone didn’t have a good day regardless of how it happened.

You can pop u locks open with a small car jack.

Since it’s the rear wheel and its torqued, I’d put my money on a RR track, storm drain, or some other groove in the pavement.

Looks like a nice “round the neighborhood” bike.

  6. Why do you not go and leave for the house, which the bicycle sits upon, a note inquiring if it is their bike or if they have any knowledge of its owner. Tell them if not, i will gladly help you remove it from your property. I usually give it 2 weeks when i see a “question-ly abandoned” bike before liberating it for parts. It keeps my conscience a little cleaner. You can also post a post on craigslist under bikes saying warning to remove on the post. At least that way you are covered. Good luck!!
