In Agreement
When the new Walmart Neighborhood Market opened at Bennett and Glenstone, one of the things I was concerned about was the increase in traffic from the store. I found myself hoping the city would add some bike lanes or other cycling infrastructure to give my presence there on a bicycle some legitimacy.
Actually, the increase in traffic has not been as bad as I expected, although I do notice a lot of cars coming out of the lot and turning west on Bennett toward Glenstone. Imagine my joy when I discovered this week that bike lanes have been painted from Glenstone all the way past the Kraft plant to Barnes.
I just wish the pavement was wide enough to extend them over the railroad tracks all the way down to Oak Grove. Oh well – I guess you can’t have everything you wish for.
God bless…

I noticed also and was glad. Bennett on this section has needed them for some time. Too bad the city also put lanes on Cherry just east of Glenstone. Now that was a joke.

Nice! I shared this on FB’s “Bicycle Friendly Springfield” page. I’m on an Ozark Greenways committee which is working to help make Springfield a more bike-friendly community, and we always appreciate the feedback!
