One Mile At A Time
Well, my calendar reads January 1st, so that means it’s time to go make another entry on the garage cabinet door where I track my yearly bike mileage. Yeah, I know, most people use a spreadsheet, but there’s something satisfying about seeing those numbers on the door whenever I open it to get out a helmet or gloves.
2012 ended up being a banner year as far as mileage goes. I think the primary factor in that was the weather.
We had a very mild winter last year and I didn’t lose very many commuting days because of it. In addition, spring came early and cold weather came late this year, extending the riding season considerably.
What will next year bring? Who knows. I’m not going to set a mileage goal or anything like that. Instead, I’ll just enjoy getting out and riding one mile at a time!
Happy New Year!

Numbers on a cabinet door! How fun! I hope to share some of those miles in 2013.

Our family chooses a virtual trip each year and we track our indoor mileage to keep spirits high. We are cycling around Australia this year. In the past we have cycling across Canada and done the Cape to Cairo route. We eventually want to do all the continents. It’s a great way to stay motivated!
