If it’s not for bad luck….
Boy…I’m starting to get a complex. Every time I turn around, it’s another flat tire. The latest was after work last night. Technically, I suppose it was on the way to work yesterday morning, but it didn’t make itself known until after work.
I couldn’t find the cause of this one…but all the others have been glass and rocks that I’ve been able to dig out. That’s an indication that I don’t have an underlying cause, because my tires are both good. Instead, I think it’s just a result of riding in lots of sloppy conditions over the past month. It’s a reasonably well known fact that wet roads are the breeding ground for bicycle flats, and when you add the salt and gravel that’s been put down several times around here, things are pretty nasty in places. In reality, I’m finally about to the point of trying a Tuffy tire liner. In the past I’ve not wanted to incur the weight penalty, but I see now they’ve got a newer, lighter version available.
Compared to last year’s unseasonably mild winter, this one is just seeming to last forever! Come on, tomorrow is March already! Let’s see some spring!
God bless…

This time of the year I really don’t mind riding with Slime in my tires — I am not too worried about speed anyway, and I hate changing tubes in the snow.

Amen. I applaud your perserverence. I’ve just been sitting inside, looking out my window. Somehow, I don’t think I’m going to be in good shape after my 200k next weekend.
